Burn Cottage Vineyard is located at the foothills of the Pisa range in Central Otago. The 24 hectare property is owned by the Sauvage family, who's also behind Koehler Ruprecht estate in Germany and several fine wine importing companies in the US. Burn Cottage Vineyard was grazed by sheep in its former life before it was purchased by the Sauvages in 2002.
At Burn Cottage, they believe that great wines are not made from fruit, "they are born of the soils which nurture the wines... Burn Cottage makes wines from vineyard blocks with individual character traits on an estate property."
